Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker

Today is the day

Today is the biggest day of Caleb's life.

We start the dreaded Potty Training. I think he's going to do ok. Right now, he's in a diaper because I have a chiropractor appointment at 10. I figured I better start after that since I didn't want to bring any extra clothes with me.

My plan is start take him to the potty every half hour until he goes, then we'll go every hour to hour and a half and see how he does. I'm not expecting much today actually, but plenty of whining and fighting. He's for sure ready because he tells us when he's done something, so it's just a matter of him cooperating.

Oh, the joys of beginning a new milestone.

Happy New Year

Yay for a brand new year!! We've made it!!

Caleb had a good time with his grandparents while they were here. They showed him plenty of attention which he seemed to love. But, sadly, it's time to get back to normal routine. Don't get me wrong, we show him plenty of attention, but when his grandparents are here, it's 100% undivided attention.

Yesterday he just seemed off when I got home. Jordan said that he had been like that all day. He wasn't eating, he wasn't drinking, and when I got home, he just seemed, well, I'm not sure what to call it. It was like he was just exhausted beyond belief. I think the past week finally caught up with him and he just crashed. He had a three hour nap yesterday (insert surprise emoticon here - computer crashes if I actually use the emoticon), and he went to bed about three hours later and slept all night.

Today, he is much better. Spry, almost back to his old self, and he's drinking again. He did eat a little bit today. I'm not too worried about the eating part, but his lack of drinking had me a little worried last night. All he has had to drink today is milk - no juice. He got a little whiney because he couldn't have the juice, but that lasted all of like three seconds. LOL. Jordan and I just kind of looked at each other and I thought, "Wow, that was easy".

We went out to dinner tonight and we asked him where he wanted to go. His response? "Mall". LOL. So, we ate at The Yard House. But first we had to go to the main fountain where he watched the water go on and off. LOL.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas from our house to yours. We hope you all had a nice day with your families.

Ours was a whirlwind, but it was a wonderful time to be with family, eats lots of good, and open TONS of presents. Caleb was fun to watch this year. He loved opening up his presents, ripping off the paper and playing with his toys almost immediately. At one point, he just stopped opening them because he got so interested in what he got. He was absolutely precious.

We think he is finally done with his sickness. He's eating better, drinking better and he isn't coughing as much as he has been. Thank goodness. He's lost some weight because of it, but he still looks good.

We gave the best present that we could possiby give to our parents this year with Caleb's help, and we are proud to announce it here on Caleb's website.

We are going to be having another baby!!

I'm already 10 weeks, and our estimated due date is at the end of July.

We have a new baby blog already set up and started so for those that keep up with this one and want to keep updated with the new baby, you can go here. If interested, be sure to subscribe to get updates when I make a new post. Have fun reading 10 weeks of post blog entries. LOL.

I Can Say My...

Yeah, it only took him 3 minutes to say 26 letters, but that's ok. Plus, he wasn't really in the mood to be doing it that early in the morning, but that's ok. It's still cute and I have it on video.

I promise....

I'll do better with writing in my blog.

This time of year is really busy for us with the holidays. I think moreso this time because Caleb is older and he's so active and takes up alot of time. That's a good thing, by the way.

I'm up early again - 2:30am - and I can't sleep. Jordan is snoring and I just can't sleep, so I might as well get up for a bit and then go back later. I've already been up for about an hour. I feel the burning in my eyes and I'm definitely tired, so I think I'm going to go back to bed  soon.

Jordan left on travel this past Wednesday for two days and returned late Friday evening. He went to some realtor meeting that apparently wasn't all that great to go to, but at least the company was represented. He went to AZ. He tried looking up Perry (my brother) while he was there, but I guess he wasn't in the area at the time. Oh well, better luck next time, right?

Caleb did pretty well without his daddy, although he did call for him a few times and asked where he was.

Saturday, we went Christmas shopping and for the most part, we are finished. I even bought Jordan's presents. I have a few more things that I have to get, and then I'm done. Now the big job is to wrap them all. I'll do that sometime this week or maybe next week. Just depends on what's going on at the moment.

The past two days, Caleb has fallen asleep in the car. He hasn't done that in ages, so I guess all our activities this weekend tired him out. He does have a little bit of a head cold from the extreme weather changes, and that's probably part of it too. But he's in GREAT spirits and he's running around like he always does. The only thing about his cold is that I'm wiping his nose every few minutes or so.

I haven't taken a single picture as of late - well that's not entirely true. I did take some on Friday when i babysat our next door neighbor's nine month old. I should upload those later on today. I didn't get a lot though because she got spooked by the camera and cried everytime the flash went off. Caleb did very well with her here though. He wasn't too crazy about her in his crib, but he got over it pretty quickly. The moment she was gone, I changed out the bed clothes because she was also sick. I wasn't sure if i was going to be able to babysit because Caleb had been sick since Wednesday morning, but once I found out that she was ALSO sick, why not. They can't give it to each other, if they are already sick. I wish I could have gotten some video though of the two of them playing. He was just so gentle with her. I know there's more, but with the lack of sleep at the moment, I just can't think. I'll have to write about it later on, if I can get on.

Hope you all had a great weekend!!

Caleb's Baby Foreast: Sleeping

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

It's that time of year again where we all get together with our families and have a nice, hefty, starchy, meal together.

Not this family. I had to work. Yep, it happened to be my holiday to work and not only that, but it's my weekend to work as well. What are the odds of that happening?

Jordan and Caleb spent the past two days together, and I'm sure he loved that. He got to go outside and help with the Christmas lights and to plant some new plants outside. I guess he got dirty, becuase he had an early bath today.

I hope you all had a great time with your families and really took this time to enjoy being with them. It's not often where families can spend their holidays together because of work or families or just time in general.

Potty Power!!

Yep, that's what we're currently watching.

And you know what's REALLY bad? The songs are so addicting, I find myself singing along.

We haven't attempted training again since we did his big boy pants trial. I figure if we can get him seeing other kids using the potty on the video, and him seeing us, he'll be real good to go by the time the holidays are over.

Not much has been going on as of late. We've been real busy getting the house ready for the holidays, well, keeping it straightened up while I'm working this week. Then, we'll start decorating the inside of the house for Christmas. We were able to put most of our lights up this past weekend. I still have a few more things that I need to get out, and then we're done.

It's been pretty mild outside as of late, so Caleb has been playing outside, which he loves.

Caleb's Baby Forecast: Watching Potty Power

We Have a Hopper

I'm not sure where he learned this, but he's learned to do it. It's definitely not a jump because he can't get that high, but he'll do it as he practices. I'm not sure if he was doing this while my in-laws were here or if he learned it at preschool during church on Sunday, but he did it.

He also has learned the word, "MINE". Yep. Not sure where he got that one either.

I've decided I'm not going to potty train Caleb right now until AFTER the holidays. I think it will be better that way because I still have to do shopping and the sorts. I can't necessarily do that and train him all at the same time. It's just not going to work. Can't be a supermom here in this section of time, that's for sure.

For his birthday, he got Potty Power, a potty training video. I'm not really sure how this is supposed to teach him, but I guess it helps him see it. Not that he can't see us going to the potty.  We watched it this weekend. It's rather a rediculous video for adults to watch, but Caleb enjoyed and that's what matters. We watched it three times in a row, and I was beginning to sing the songs. UGH. LOL.

This is the second time  writing this blog, because some how while I was writing, the whole thing got highlighted, and Caleb started typing and it refreshed. Yeah, not a happy camper with Caleb at the moment. I realize he's just trying to get my attention, but NOT WHILE I'M TRYING TO WRITE ABOUT HIM!!!. LOL.

Ok, I'm done now.

Two Year Wellness Checkup

Today was Caleb's two year check-up and he's perfect. Just perfect.

Here are his two year stats:

Weight: 30.6 pounds (@ 18 month appt, he was 26.2 pounds) - he is in the 78th percentile
Height: 34.5 inches (@ 18 month appt, he was 32.5 inches) - he is in the 48th percentile

No shots today. I guess he won't get them until next year. He will get a flu shot on Monday, and then he'll get another one in December. They do that for kids this young and frankly, with his past illness, both Dr. Blum and I agree that might be a good thing for him. I have to call Monday to see if we can get in to do it. They ran out of the shot and expect to get more in today.

I asked the doctor if we were going to have to go through some cyclic neutropenia based on his illness over the summer, and they said that if he gets sick, they will do bloodwork just to make sure that he does bounce back and how quickly, but he thinks that he will grow out of it. That was good news.

His diet can now be anything. He is to start drinking water throughout the day and only have juice/milk at meals only. So, becuase he doesn't like water, I'm going to have to flavor it with lemon or buy that water in bottles that is flavored until I can get him to drink it without it. I have noticed that he will drink water if it's NOT in his sippy cup. So, maybe I will need to go that route.

So, another good appointment and another pat on the back for me for getting through another year and doing things right.

Caleb slept over at Gramie's and Grandpa's house last night while Jordan and I went to a Coldplay concert. That concert was nothing but a big bag of AWESOME!! We last saw then when they were just getting popular (when their first CD came out) and holy cow, you can tell they've made money over the years. Their light show and stage presence as really changed, and they just seemed more comfortable on stage.

Test Trial

Thought I would do a test trial to see how Caleb would like one of his new "clothes" that he got for his birthday.

Yeah, well, it didn't go so well. He already left me a deposit. And it wasn't the liquid kind either. LOL.

So, now he's in this for a bit:

I'm not going to start really training him until next week, but I want to get him used to big boy pants. And I think I'm going to have to invest in some more. I only got six for his birthday. I figure I'll be using that in one day. LOL
